Muse News! – CMBA Membership, Award, TCM Loot & More

Hello, lovely readers! I hope 2022 has been treating you well.

Whew, I am so thrilled and grateful to say that it has been a happening few months here at the Muse! I can’t wait to share this good news with you.

Ready? Let’s dive in…

Classic Movie Blog Association

A few months ago I applied for admittance into the Classic Movie Blog Association. This group of bloggers consists of terrific writers who are passionate about sharing their love for classic movies, they know their stuff, and to top it off, they are some of the nicest folks on the internet.

It is my joy and honor to announce that The Classic Movie Muse is now part of the Classic Movie Blog Association!!

I want to extend my gratitude to the CMBA for allowing me to join their company. This is an honor and privilege which I do not take lightly, and I appreciate your support and for allowing me to join you in sharing the love and appreciation for classic movies.

Congratulations to my fellow newest member The Silver Screen Surfer!!

The Audrey Hepburn Award

My pal Ruth over at Silver Screenings graciously bestowed this award on the Muse. I had nominated her for The Sunshine Blogger Award and because she’s so awesome, she had been nominated by other bloggers for various awards as well. Her brilliant response to all of these nominations was to give out her own fun, creative awards.

Audrey Hepburn is one of my inspirations, and to be placed anywhere near her is the greatest honor. Thank you again, Ruth!!

If you haven’t checked out Ruth’s blog yet, please stop reading, head over there now. Thank me later. I’ll still be here when you get back.

Ruth’s award post with the list of honorees and their awards can be found here.

New Pages – About & Archives

Sidenote: Do you ever wonder what happened to props such as the newspaper in Roman Holiday? It would make a fantastic piece of memorabilia, wouldn’t it? Or a reproduction in one of those collector’s editions of the film. Who gets to make those decisions? I think I’ve found my dream job…

You might have noticed in your web travels that I’ve added two new pages to the Muse menu. The About page isn’t as new, but I did update it in September 2021, so definitely stop by if you haven’t yet seen the updates!

The Archives page is hot off the presses. You’ll find every post I’ve written there, as well as ways to search by tag or by date. However you like to search, I’ve (hopefully) got you covered!

What a Character! Blogathon Giveaway

And for the “slam bang finish” as Bing Crosby says in White Christmas, I was privileged to take part in the What a Character! Blogathon in December 2021 hosted by Paula’s Cinema Club, Once Upon a Screen, and Outspoken & Freckled.

Some of you may remember, I wrote about the imposing Lucille La Verne, the voice and inspiration for the Queen and Witch in Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

This special 10th anniversary of this event offered the chance to win a giveaway consisting of one of a classic film fan’s favorite things – books! Turner Classic Movies and The University Press of Kentucky contributed prizes to the lucky winners and yours truly happened to be one of them. Here’s the bundle of goodies I received from TCM.

Thank you again to Paula, Aurora, and Kellee for this awesome opportunity and to TCM for generously gifting their incredible book and extras!!

That concludes this round of Muse News. Thank you for tuning in!

What do you think of my new archive page? Is the format helpful? I’m always looking for ways to make navigating the site easier for my readers and would welcome any feedback.

Do you have TCM’s The Essentials book(s) in your collection? Let me know in the comments!

Coming in February
